The Ugly Truth

There are some days when no matter how much you try to ignore it, you just can’t shut your eyes to all the injustice around you. You’re finally forced to stand tall and face your worst fear – the truth.

You can cry all that you want, but the blurred vision can no longer hide the reality you’ve so safely ignored for so long. Your pretense at forgetfulness has to run down its course sooner or later. No amount of polite socially-correct shushing will work. You can demean it, play it down or even try to falsify it….but you can never again hide from it. So what do you do then?

Each morning witnesses a few red drops on my pillow-
Stains left behind from a life that should never have been.
Isn’t it easier to just hide behind black holes in your memory
When the truth is too vulgar to acknowledge?
Point fingers and shush the questions stirring their heads;
Lay down a comforting cushion of your taunts for them to rest on.
I wish my words had a life of their own. A world without fear.
Alas a prisoner can only dream of freedom. Not offer it.

Well, most of us civilized folks ignore that such a lapse ever occurred.

    I love these parts. It’s quite easy to ignore all the wrongs going on around but you could have good morals and stick to them. Change could start with you, you know.
