We met under grey skies and a black umbrella.
We both agreed that you were special and so our friendship bloomed.
You conquered hearts with my words, which I joyfully supplied.
I gave you my trust, but you lied. You lied.
You stamped all over my confidence just for my benefit
Left with too many warnings and no pride – I was bound to be a misfit.
You treated me like rubbish and thought I wouldn’t realize.
Well, better late than never – you’ll be surprised
To know, I disagree.
Wasn’t it predictable, that anything which started
With tears running down my cheeks was already doomed?
Prompt: Disagree
It’s better to be without a person who treats you like rubbish

I’ve said this aloud several times because it reads so well! But maybe because I’m really tired? Trying to connect the dots. But – I was married to a liar. I left.

Thank you 🙂 there are some toxic people out there who prey on our goodness till finally we can’t do anything but see them for what they truly are. I detoxified.

I love that! It’s so cutting.

Unfortunately, it’s heartfelt

Oh – I’m sorry to learn that! It was convincing, but I always assume you’re like a method actor who ‘becomes’ the character they’re playing (or in this case, writing about). It’s how I write fiction.

Yes I do that too. But this was just on my mind and the prompt just made sense.

See – I knew you did that! When I first began reading your poems I thought you led a tragic life! You had me totally fooled 🙂

Lol. I try to get under the skin to understand why they do what they do. Sometimes people think it’s all about my life. I take it as a compliment 🙂 I am happy with my life. But I cry at what’s happening around. I need to make a difference but don’t know where to start. So, I write.

Writing DOES make a start. I pick up all the followers I can, so that one day I’ll have a platform, and I can focus fully on writing the things which matter.

I hope you don’t mind my intruding in this chain of comments. My name is Roy and I’m a 68 year old Yank male 🙂 and what you wrote here illustrates one of the great wonders of the Internet: that one can have an audience before whom one can say what is heartfelt and true. I’m one of three; and although we’re not proactively seeking an audience, we do appreciate a “connect” with real people. And I’m talkin about you and The Grateful Dead (among others!)

Roy, I believe that the more people who are shaken out of their numbness, the better it is. Please feel free to comment – all three welcome! We face issues that are universal and so must the solutions be.

Hi Roy. It’s great to have your input. Like many others, I began blogging purely because I wanted an audience; I didn’t know quite where I was going, or how much I’d gain. It’s that connection which makes the real difference in my life. Online I can be both nurtured and nurturing. We’re all able to make a positive difference to each other. I love it.

Reblogged this on The Grateful Dead and commented:
Wrote this over a year back…when I was still new to this world.
