Never Back Down

I can feel the heat of your stare burn through the thick coat on my back. I wished that I could hide deeper within the shade of my hoodie, but nothing seems to deter you. Gone are the days when the earth would open it’s arms and the woman could sink underground to maintain her shame and modesty. I push back my hood; and just like the sun raining down heat rays after emerging from behind clouds, I meet your gaze. This time you look away.

Prompt:  Underground
