Rising Up

She shook her hair

Till it fell in layers, down the regal slope of her shoulders.

She shook her jacket

Till the crumbs of a hasty lunch fell free from the tweed.

She shook her head

To dispel all the nasty thoughts that kept flooding in.

And when everything else was done,

She shook herself

And straightened her spine. This was a war she had to win.

What a wonderful challenge it was to create this visual effect. Had I known earlier, I would have tried my hand using this technique of repetitions to create intensity a lot sooner! But…better late than never, no? This was written for Victoria’s Anniversary prompt on dVerse.
