Standing against the backdrop of an azure sky,
He’s a poetry in hues of blue.
I wish I had a dress to match
The baby blues sparkling down at me.
Ruby red lips clash with the
Pink dripping from my cheeks to neck.
His smile lights up the horizon
And I feel myself falling all over again.
Written for dVerse Poets challenge to paint a picture with words in the Impressionist style of art. I know very little about art. Ok, honestly? I know nothing at all! But the prompt was so tempting (and educating) that I had to at least give it a try. Thanks Bjorn for this!
oh and you did it well, Love the blushing pink cheeks and ruby red lips, they are so beautiful together, representing health and love. and baby blues? oh love a blue eyed honey, though brown is very sexy. loved the playfulness here! superbly done!

Hehe…thank you…yes, even I prefer the deep forest brown to blue. But blue sounded more poetic!

hehee – i think we are both referring to the kind of eyes that set our heart a flutter and that is very sweet of you, romantic to think of brown eyes and still write blue to get the poem right – i think I like you very much!

Yes, exactly! I felt like a child playing make believe to fit in the role! Lol. I’ve been reading your work…awesome how you use simple words yet describe everything so deeply. Very inspiring!

haha! I only know simple words, English is my second language so I translate a lot in my head. I should expand my vocabulary, I do read but can’t remember when to use the words. Thank you for liking them though, simple words, little lines thats me!

I don’t know whether English is my first language or not. As in at home we talk in another language, but in school we learnt English as the first language and now even my dreams are in English! I do have a pretty decent vocabulary but I like keeping things simple. Somehow, my writing style is like my talking style. There’s a saying that its so simple to be difficult yet so difficult to be simple. Whatever may be your reason, I like the way you’re headed.

thank you! I speak English 50% of the day, so its easy to think in it too, just sometimes the other language filters through with its own idioms and such it can get confusing when i write. but you have an amazing command of English, I am always impressed by your writing style and use of words.

We are beginning to sound like member of a mutual admiration society. I am loving it! I know what you mean about the filters. Often, the things that I dream up in my language sound so much more romantic than the stark words of English!

Here’s me blushing pretty pink again, though I don’t put on much make-up so you just have to imagine the ruby red! Every day I’m on WP reading something new from someone new, it’s like seeing that a world beyond what I know exists. Feel like a toad in a well. But so exhilarating to know that there’s so much more to see and do yet.

All those colours! They create such an atmosphere, like a painting. Imagine if you’d used dark, brooding colours. A whole other poem…

Oh I was tempted. Sorely. To use the darker shades. But then the rules stated lightness and brightness…maybe next time 🙂
