A tiny spark

This week’s photo prompt is provided by Yarnspinner. Thank you Yarnspinner!

“To live and to die and not make any impact, now that’s what I call a waste of life,” Ben said while taking in the gloomy scene in front of him. “But that’s not something that I can  say for these poor things. They gave much and then gave it all up.”

He and his friend hacked his way through the burnt up remains of the forest, looking for signs of life. Their feet left deep impressions in the ashes of the dead.

It had taken only a single burning heart to end everything here.
