He sat, as always, facing the big crowd that gathered every afternoon to feast on the food he served at his restaurant. He liked the eager faces that perused the menu and brightened up the moment they saw their favorites. There was always a childlike excitement, a sudden lull in conversations as the courses were served. A hush settled across the tables as the aromas filled their senses with joy.
Once the meal was over, it was all back to the grind. He never waited around long enough to watch them pay the bills. Too ordinary to witness.
