I try to keep them all together
Tied firmly to my branches
Just as I hold tight to my roots.
They sway to the wind’s caresses
And grow heavy with temptation.
Sometimes they bloom with the surety
That their beauty will seduce.
Often, they think that they know better than me.
Can a part ever be better than the whole?
Will the flowers maintain their beauty
If they adorned the ground instead?
How far would the leaf’s adventure take it
Before it withered and slept forever?
I hold them in my embrace only till I know
That it is time to finally let them go.
No rebellion is needed my children,
For I am a tree. I know what it is to yearn to be free.
Prompt: Tree
So beautiful.

Maybe I’ll meet you up there, if I can get beyond the second rung of this ladder. If not, look down at the earth – I’ll be the madwoman standing on the roof, waving 🙂

OK so how about the story from the other side that you’d promised on this post? https://thegratefuldeadblog.wordpress.com/2016/09/30/who-is-stronger/

Yes! Let’s talk about that on Sunday – it’s 4am over here. I’m up late, catching up on chat, and tomorrow I’ll be out for most of the day and evening.
